The Dr. Iustin Moisescu Hall

To the left from the esplanade in front of the Cathedral there is the edifice that accommodates the Metropolitan Chancery. On the lower ground floor there are the Metropolitan Archive and the Historical Section of the Dumitru Stăniloae Metropolitan Library. From the entrance hall going right one finds the entrance to the Dr. Iustin Moisescu Festivity Hall, which hosts periodically conferences, symposia and other important events in the life of the Metropolitanate. It is a tall and large 250-seat hall, naturally illuminated through 12 large and 12 small windows, symmetrically place toward east and west, or by means of the artificial light generated by 72 light bulbs set in hexagonal recesses. The walls are adorned with 12 large paintings depicting previous metropolitans of Moldavia. As these portraits are the work of renowned painters, their artistic value makes of them important pieces of the patrimony of the Metropolitanate. Metropolitan Iustin Moisescu, the founder of the edifice, is portrayed himself in one of the paintings. In sign of appreciation, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel gave the Festivities Hall the name of its originator.
